The IPO’s Inaugural Producers Conference

one-more-2The Independent Producers Organisation (IPO) in partnership with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) will on Thursday the 06th of October 2016 host its 20/20 Vision Conference. The 20/20 Vision Conference is the first ever event of its kind to be hosted by the organisation, bringing together all IPO producer members.

“The Independent Producers Organisation exists to serve Film and Television Producers, and one of its key mandates is to represent, promote and protect the specific needs and interests of producers. To properly represent them at all levels, it needs to be very clear about what the needs and interests of the community are and then work to address them through clearly laid out policy and strategies,” says Akin Omotoso IPO Chairperson.

In order to have a successful event, the IPO engaged with the general film and television industry professionals regarding other pertinent issues affecting the industry and impacting on its growth, issues that have formed part of the discussions at the conference. “The engagements were motivated by the reality that we are in the process of shaping a new IPO, an organisation that we envisage working with stakeholders including the SABC, DTI, NFVF and IDC towards a growing industry,” adds Akin.

Speakers at the event will include an SABC representative, GFC CEO Mr. Andile Mbeki, IPO Executive Marvin Saven, Harriet Gavshon and Michael Auret.

Andile Mbeki from GFC adds that “partnering with the IPO on this important occasion is the beginning of a solid relationship that would see home-grown talent and stories being further appreciated by the public and other stakeholders”.
