KZN Film Commission Scriptwriting and Technical Skills Training Offered
The KZN Film Commission aims to enhance the economy by providing and encouraging opportunities for persons, especially from disadvantaged communities to enter and participate in the film industry in the province. In so doing, it aims to contribute to an enabling environment to job creation. The Human Capital Development (HCD) Programme under Marketing and Industry Development is designed to develop skills in KwaZulu Natal focusing on previously disadvantaged filmmakers across the value chain of film and television. The KZNFC is responding to the need for skills in Scriptwriting. The University Endorsed Scriptwriting programme embraces best practices of scriptwriting. Our aim is to equip aspiring scriptwriters with tools that will allow them to shape their own talent, originality and creativity. The Programme runs over five months either face to face or virtually.
The KZNFC is also responding to the need for skills in Technical Production Training programme. The full qualification is the Further Education and Training Certificate: Film and Television Production Operations NQF Level 4 Training programme and is a one-year full time course.
This qualification is aimed at learners who wish to enter the film and television industry with no prior competence in the area. Learning towards this qualification allows the learner to experience the various career options in the industry (technical, creative and production) and thereby make an informed choice. In addition, it allows learners to focus on and gain entry-level competence in a chosen area of specialisation. This qualification will equip learners with a minimum competence in all focus areas as well as providing an employable level of competence in their choice of focus area. This Training will be held in Groutville, KZN and is only applicable for participants who reside in this area.
