NFVF Film Industry Economic Impact Assessment Study

BDO has been commissioned by the National Film and Video Foundation (contact person: Botse Matlala, 011 483 0880, Bo****@nf**.za) to quantify the economic impact of the South African film industry in detail, breaking down the economic contribution of the film and television industry into various sub-sectors such as concept development, film production, distribution and exhibition. The study will focus on each sub-sector’s contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), to taxes and to employment, including direct, indirect and induced effects.

Part of the research phase part of the study includes engaging with stakeholders to solicit feedback on issues affecting the film industry including more broadly the support measures (such as funding, distribution, marketing etc.) currently available to the South African Film Industry and the effectiveness of the support initiatives in growing the industry and cushioning the industry against the adverse impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Accordingly, we kindly request you to complete the stakeholder survey on the link below. We fully understand that you might be busy, but we will greatly appreciate it if you will afford us 10 minutes to complete the survey. The completed surveys should reach us by no later than Friday the 19th of February 2021.
