Free Women Films Producer Master Classes

Free Women Films has received training funding from the Presidential Employment Stimulus Fund, through the NFVF. We are calling for 14 Producers with either a Feature Film, Feature Documentary, Web Series, TV Drama or Pilot to submit their projects for this training course with top local and international experts. This is a unique opportunity to get your project pitch ready. At the end of the course, the producers will have the opportunity to pitch to local and international sales agents, co-producers, private investors, funders and casting agents.

The outcomes of the master classes are as follows:

  • to develop the skills to package and pitch for international film & TV markets; prepare a business plan to pitch to potential local and international investors
  • to develop skills to raise venture loans, gap or bridging finance, finding co-producers and sales agents, projections on ROI, working with co-producers as per SA co-production treaties and the rules of thereof, completion of due diligence, recoupment charts, accounting software, completion bonder, legal agreements, setting up of a SPCV, compliance and tax, entrepreneurship process, financial and management accounting, business plans
  • develop sound negotiation and leadership skills creative producing, marketing, PR and distribution, networking, and talent searching

  • Brief project summary (max 5 pages) include logline, premise, synopsis, key creatives, motivation on why where you see yourself as a producer in five years times, what your career aspirations are, short paragraph on who your favorite filmmaker is and why, and previous work experience and links to your showreel with password
  • Treatment for documentaries
  • Final approved script for feature films
  • One episode for web and TV pilot
  • CV’s with profiles of the key creative team:Producer, Director, Writer and DOP
  • Development and production schedule
  • Detailed budget
  • Marketing and distribution strategy
  • Production company registration and tax clearance certificate
  • Individual: Certified ID (not older than 3 months)

Closing Date for entries: 22nd March 2021 @18h00

Preference to under-served areas will be given to Limpopo, North West, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape. We also invite Producers from KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape and Gauteng to submit their projects. This is an on-line training programme from April till end of June 2021, with a minimum of two hours per day for the workshops or work to be prepared. The producers selected to be on the programme will receive a stipend as well as access to digital meeting rooms.
